Golf: European Tour rebranded as the DP World Tour from 2022

DP World will become the new title sponsor of the European Tour group’s main men's golf tour from the start of the 2022 season. The new look tour will see total prize money break through the $200m mark for the first time, with a new minimum prize fund of $2m for all tournaments solely sanctioned by the DP World Tour.  In 2022, the tour will feature a minimum of 47 tournaments in 27 different countries, including new events in the UAE, Japan, South Africa and Belgium. The expanded Rolex Series will feature five events: the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, the Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic, the Genesis Scottish Open, the BMW PGA Championship and the season-ending DP World Tour Championship. Destination Sport Experiences to offer cycling tours and hospitality at the 2022 Giro d’Italia

Recently-launched sports travel company Destination Sport Experiences has secured a partnership with RCS Sport to become an official premium tour operator for the 2022 Giro d’Italia cycling grand tour and associated events. The Giro d’Italia is an annual multi-stage cycle race primarily held in Italy, while also starting in, or passing through, other countries along the way. Dubai to host 111 sports events in November

Dubai is going sports crazy in the month of November with 111 events taking place in the emirate. Of the events on the schedule, 20 are at international level and four are world championships: the 25th Karate World Championships, IBF Bowling World Championships, FIDE World Chess Championship, and cricket’s ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup. 2022 Dubai World Cup Carnival guide: Super Saturday and World Cup dates confirmed

Dates for the 2022 Dubai World Cup Carnival, Super Saturday and Dubai World Cup night have been confirmed.  Dubai Racing Club has announced an enhanced racing calendar for the 2021-2022 season, which will now include a four-race “Jumeirah Series” on turf launched for the Classic generation, plus an exciting new race for Super Saturday, the WAM Emirates News Agency reported.  The Carnival, which begins at Meydan Racecourse on 13 January, will have several new races for 2022. The Super Saturday card, sponsored by Emirates Airline, is scheduled for 5 March 2022 and will welcome the addition of a new race - the $300,000 Ras Al Khor over 1,400m on turf. Inaugural F1 Miami Grand Prix to be held in May 2022

The first ever edition of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix will take place from 6-8 May 2022, F1 officials have confirmed. It will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens and the new circuit layout will be 5.41km in length, have 19 corners, three straights and an estimated top speed of 320km/h.  The multi-purpose Hard Rock Stadium, which is home to the Miami Dolphins NFL franchise, has previously hosted six Super Bowls, two Baseball World Series and numerous rock concerts. HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2022: calendar and host cities

World Rugby has confirmed the schedule for the 2022 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series as the sport looks to capitalise on a successful Olympics in Tokyo. The 2022 series will feature ten men’s and seven women’s rounds over six months, kicking off with a pair of combined men’s and women’s events in Dubai. Qatar Grand Prix completes Formula 1’s 22-race calendar for 2021 season

Formula 1 has confirmed its revised 22-race calendar for the 2021 season with Qatar announced as the destination for a grand prix in November.  The inaugural Qatar Grand Prix will take place at the purpose-built Losail International Circuit, 22 miles north of the capital city Doha. Qatar has also signed an additional ten-year deal to host F1 from 2023. The introduction of the Qatar Grand Prix means the 2021 F1 season will end with three races in the Gulf: Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi. 2021 Tokyo Marathon postponed to 6 March 2022

Organisers of the Tokyo Marathon have announced that the 2021 edition of the event has been postponed until 6 March 2022.  Japan’s capital city is still in a state of emergency due to the Covid-19 pandemic and it’s not possible for the marathon to go ahead on the scheduled date of 17 October.  In a statement the Tokyo Marathon race director Tad Hayano said: “We have been preparing to deliver an enjoyable event while ensuring safety, not only of our runners but of each and every individual involved in the event. Rugby League World Cup: 2022 dates confirmed for rescheduled event

Following the postponement of the 2021 event, Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) organisers have now confirmed the dates for 2022.  Taking place in 2022 from Saturday 15 October to Saturday 19 November, the RLWC in England will feature the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments - the first time all three will be held simultaneously.  A statement said: “The dates see the tournament move one week earlier than scheduled in 2021 to maximise attendance and viewership. 2021 FIA World Rallycross calendar: Nürburgring moved to season finale

Rallycross Promoter GmbH has confirmed that the World RX of Germany at the Nürburgring - scheduled to be the second and third rounds of the 2021 FIA World Rallycross Championship - will be postponed to the end of the season due to the ongoing effects of the widespread recent flooding in the region. American football returns to London this autumn with two regular season NFL international matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
