Neville: complete EPL abroad Former Manchester United and England star Gary Neville suggests that the remaining Premier League fixtures should be played abroad in order to complete the 2019-20 season.  Sky Sports pundit Neville said: “If the Premier League are really serious about delivering the matches that remain in a safe environment they would move it to the two or three spots that are within three or four hours of this country that are coronavirus free. “They would take the Premier League players, broadcasters and media over, quarantine for a week or two and then deliver it in an environment that has proven it can handle this virus. The 2020 NBA season could potentially be completed with the remaining matches being played at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando - if and when coronavirus restrictions are lifted in the United States. Women’s golf: LPGA Tour targets 2020 season restart in mid-July 

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has published a revised event calendar for 2020 with a target of restarting the season in mid-July.  Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational in Michigan will be the first event on the revised 2020 LPGA Tour calendar followed by the Marathon LPGA Classic in Ohio and ShopRite LPGA Classic in New Jersey.  The Women’s PGA Championship major, which was meant to be held in June, has now been rescheduled for 8-11 October.  In a statement LPGA commissioner Mike Whan said: “One thing that has become clear is that there will be no ‘opening bell’ regarding a return to safe play in this new normal of the Covid-19 pandemic.  “To be honest, being ‘first’ has never been the goal when it comes to returning to play in this new normal. British Touring Car Championship: revised 2020 provisional calendar announced

Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship (BTTC) series organisers TOCA has published a revised provisional calendar for 2020.  This year’s championship will feature nine events and a total of 27 races. Ligue 1 season is over French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe has announced that sport in the country will not resume until September, including behind closed doors.  France has banned sporting events gathering more than 5,000 people until September and this means the end of the 2019-20 Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 football seasons.  Phillipe said: “The big sporting affairs cannot occur before September. The 2019-2020 season of professional sports, including football, will not be able to resume.  “It will be possible, on sunny days, to practice an individual sporting activity outdoors, obviously respecting the rules of social distancing. Chase Carey is ‘confident’ the F1 2020 season will start in Austria on 5 July 

Formula 1 CEO Chase Carey has announced that the F1 2020 season is scheduled to start with the Austrian Grand Prix in July.  It has been confirmed the French GP will not go ahead - the tenth race to be cancelled or postponed - and plans are in place for the championship to begin in Austria from 3-5 July.  In a statement F1 boss Carey said: “Although it was announced that the French Grand Prix will not be going ahead, we are now increasingly confident with the progress of our plans to begin our season this summer.  “We’re targeting a start to racing in Europe through July, August and beginning of September, with the first race taking place in Austria on 3-5 July weekend.  “September, October and November, would see us race in Eurasia, Asia and the Americas, finishing the season in the G...

Covid-19 impact study: only 53% of sports events in 2020 will be held and industry to lose $61.6bn in revenue

A study by international sports marketing firm Two Circles has predicted that only 53% of sports events in 2020 will now take place due to Covid-19. With the coronavirus pandemic forcing the cancellation or postponement of many events Two Circles also estimates that the interruption to live sports will see revenues drop from $135.3bn to $73.7bn - a $61.6bn deficit. PGA Tour adjusts 2020 schedule and plans to resume season on 11 June

Golf’s PGA Tour is planning to resume the 2020 season on 11 June at the Charles Schwab Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The Charles Schwab Challenge will be the first tournament on the revised schedule and will be one of four events that will be played behind closed doors. Cycling’s global governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), has announced a number of changes to the 2020 road events calendar because of the Covid-19 pandemic.  The UCI confirmed that the postponement of competitions on the UCI International Road Calendar is extended by one month until 1 July and events on the UCI WorldTour are suspended until 1 August.  The 2020 Tour de France, which was due to take place in June and July, has also been postponed and will now be held from 29 August to 20 September.  Meanwhile, the 2020 UCI Road World Championships in Aigle-Martigny, Switzerland, stays on schedule for 20-27 September. There will be no Open Championship in 2020 after the British golf major was cancelled due to the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.  The 149th Open was scheduled for 12-19 July, but The R&A has announced that it will now next take place at Royal St George’s from 11-18 July 2021. European football season would ‘probably be lost’ if not restarted by end of June, says Uefa president Ceferin

Aleksander Ceferin, president of European football’s governing body Uefa, has revealed that a number of plans have been drawn up to try and complete the 2019-20 season.  However, should fixtures not be resumed by the end of June then the season will “probably be lost”. Football across Europe is currently suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic and the May finals of Uefa’s two major men’s competitions - the Champions League and Europa League - have been postponed.  The Uefa European Championship - Euro 2020 - has also been delayed for a year and will now take place in the summer of 2021.
