Golf Tourism South Africa launches to promote golf travel across the country

A new era for South African tourism has begun with the launch of Golf Tourism South Africa (GTSA), currently the only national platform solely focused on promoting golf tourism across the country.

Registered as a Non-Profit Company (NPC), GTSA brings together the golf, travel, wine, hospitality, and lifestyle industries under one collaborative umbrella – with the mission of positioning South Africa as a world-class golf tourism destination. GSTA has been founded by Cuthbert Simphiwe Ncube, chair of the African Tourism Board, global tourism leader, and GTSA director; Charlene Thomson, founder of We Women Golf Magazine, golf tourism expert, and GTSA co-visionary; and Lynnqwinda Scott, founder of Visit Africa, digital marketing strategist with more than 20 years in tourism, branding, and destination storytelling.

“South Africa is home to some of the world’s most spectacular golf courses, world-class hospitality, and unforgettable travel experiences,” said Cuthbert Simphiwe Ncube. “Our mission is to elevate those offerings on the global stage while empowering local communities and working hand-in-hand with the tourism trade.”

GTSA offers a partnership-based, inspiration-led marketing platform designed to drive awareness, engagement, and tourism growth across the golf, wine, safari, and hospitality sectors. Unlike booking agents or DMCs, GTSA does not sell travel – it promotes and positions South Africa as a must-visit golf destination while working in partnership with tour operators, travel agents, tourism boards, and private-sector stakeholders.

GTSA’s focus includes:

  • Tiered membership programmes for golf courses, wine farms, hotels, and DMCs
  • Destination marketing content, golf travel routes, and curated campaigns
  • Annual Golf Tourism Summit and participation in global trade shows
  • Collaborative storytelling that targets golfers from Europe, the UK, USA, India, Asia, Scandinavia, the Middle East, and beyond

Golf Tourism South Africa is now open for membership to golf clubs, tourism businesses, destinations, and international partners. All stakeholders are invited to join this landmark initiative and help shape South Africa’s golf tourism future.
