Nashville lands first Super Bowl as NFL awards 2030 showpiece to new Nissan Stadium

Nashville has secured one of the biggest prizes in global sport after the NFL confirmed that Super Bowl LXIV will be played at the new Nissan Stadium in February 2030, marking the first time the city has hosted the league’s championship game.

The announcement comes even before the Tennessee Titans’ new home has opened its doors. The state-of-the-art venue, currently under construction on Nashville’s riverfront, is scheduled to welcome fans for the 2027 NFL season before hosting the Super Bowl at the end of its third year of operation.

NFL owners approved Nashville as the host city during the NFL Spring League Meeting in Orlando, with the city becoming the latest destination to leverage a new stadium to attract one of the world’s most watched sporting events.

For sports tourism professionals, the decision is another major endorsement of Nashville’s growing reputation as an event destination. The city previously showcased its hosting credentials during the 2019 NFL Draft, which drew record crowds and was hailed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell as one of the most successful fan events in league history.

The new enclosed stadium has been designed to host year-round major events and was a key part of Nashville’s bid. Titans President and CEO Burke Nihill described the Super Bowl award as the fulfilment of the venue’s original vision to elevate the city’s ability to attract world-class events.

The Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp believes the event will provide a significant boost for the local visitor economy while placing Music City in front of a global television audience. Tourism leaders have highlighted the city’s unique blend of live music, sport, culture and hospitality as key differentiators in the successful bid.

“Hosting the Super Bowl, one of the largest events in the world, is a milestone moment for Nashville and Tennessee and reflects how far our city has come over the last several decades,” said Deana Ivey, President and CEO of the Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp.

“Nashville has been building toward a major global opportunity like this for years through strategic investments, strong community partnerships, and a proven ability to host world-class events, and we are ready for this moment. This is about far more than football. It is an opportunity to showcase the creative spirit, distinctive character, warm hospitality, and vibrant energy that make Music City special, while welcoming the world to a city that brings people together through music, sports, and shared experiences.”

By the time Super Bowl week arrives in 2030, visitors will experience a destination that has rapidly expanded its tourism infrastructure, alongside a new stadium designed to host the world’s biggest sporting events. The game will join a growing list of marquee events held in Nashville and represents a landmark moment in the city’s evolution as a sports tourism destination.
