2022 Dubai World Cup Carnival guide: Super Saturday and World Cup dates confirmed

Dates for the 2022 Dubai World Cup Carnival, Super Saturday and Dubai World Cup night have been confirmed.  Dubai Racing Club has announced an enhanced racing calendar for the 2021-2022 season, which will now include a four-race “Jumeirah Series” on turf launched for the Classic generation, plus an exciting new race for Super Saturday, the WAM Emirates News Agency reported.  The Carnival, which begins at Meydan Racecourse on 13 January, will have several new races for 2022. The Super Saturday card, sponsored by Emirates Airline, is scheduled for 5 March 2022 and will welcome the addition of a new race - the $300,000 Ras Al Khor over 1,400m on turf. Inaugural F1 Miami Grand Prix to be held in May 2022

The first ever edition of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix will take place from 6-8 May 2022, F1 officials have confirmed. It will be held at the Hard Rock Stadium complex in Miami Gardens and the new circuit layout will be 5.41km in length, have 19 corners, three straights and an estimated top speed of 320km/h.  The multi-purpose Hard Rock Stadium, which is home to the Miami Dolphins NFL franchise, has previously hosted six Super Bowls, two Baseball World Series and numerous rock concerts. Football tourism: a £1.4bn economic impact for the UK

VisitBritain research has revealed the importance of football in driving inbound tourism to the UK and in boosting visitor spending. The tourism body’s Football Tourism in the UK report published on 20 October found that overseas visitors who went to a football match spent £1.4bn across the UK in total during their trip in 2019, up 84% on the £742m spent in 2011 when the research was last conducted. There were 1.5 million visits to the UK in 2019 that included watching a live football match, up 66% compared to 2011 when there were 909,000 visits. Visitors who attended a football match also spent more and stayed longer, spending £909 per visit on average, 31% more than the global visitor average of £696 in 2019, and staying ten nights compared to seven.
