Sport Tourism Canada has announced the dates and host cities for the next four editions of its popular Sport Events Congress (SEC).
After the disappointment of having to cancel in 2020, Sport Tourism Canada is aiming to “bounce back” in the nation’s capital when SEC21 is held at The Westin Ottawa in Ottawa from 7-8 April. The hybrid event will also feature “SEC Virtually” on 9 April.
SEC, a three-day interactive and educational event, has previously attracted more than 400 attendees. Delegates include sport organisations, event rights holders, destination tourism professionals, event suppliers, event management firms and hoteliers.

2021 #SportsBiz events and conferences
Organisers Sport Tourism Canada, formerly known as the Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance, has announced a range of measures to follow Covid-19 safety guidelines.
In a statement on its website, Sport Tourism Canada said: “Our priority post-pandemic will be to keep our event attendees safe.
“With this in mind, we are exploring implementing the following new measures: enhanced hygiene and cleaning measures onsite; medical services; clear evacuation protocols; more text message communication between organisers and delegates; adaptive meeting and networking spaces to allow for physical distancing; [and] a hybrid offering consisting of both face-to-face in-person attendance and virtual participation.”
Canada’s sports tourism industry is worth more than CA$6.8bn (£3.94bn) for the country’s economy.
