Rugby League World Cup trophies tour kicks off in Newcastle

There’s less than 200 days to go until the start of the Rugby League World Cup (RLWC2021). The event – which features men’s, women’s and wheelchair competitions – kicks off on 15 October when host nation England face Samoa in the opening fixture at St James’ Park in Newcastle. To commemorate the milestone, the tournament has been undertaking a 48-hour trophies tour of the 18 host towns and cities in celebration of a 48-hour ticket upgrade offer. This means any fans that buy a Category C ticket for the opening fixture of the men’s tournament between England and Samoa at St James' Park and the first game at Kingston Park between Scotland and Italy, will have their tickets automatically upgraded to Category B, with prices starting from just £15. Rugby League World Cup: 2022 dates confirmed for rescheduled event

Following the postponement of the 2021 event, Rugby League World Cup (RLWC) organisers have now confirmed the dates for 2022.  Taking place in 2022 from Saturday 15 October to Saturday 19 November, the RLWC in England will feature the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments - the first time all three will be held simultaneously.  A statement said: “The dates see the tournament move one week earlier than scheduled in 2021 to maximise attendance and viewership. Rugby League World Cup 2021: England’s tourism industry urged to be a part of history

The 2021 Rugby League World Cup is being described as a “breakthrough moment” for the sport with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments all taking place at the same time.  Starting on 23 October and finishing on 27 November 2021, there will be a total of 61 matches played in six weeks at different venues across England. The men’s Rugby League World Cup begins on 23 October with host nation England taking on Samoa at St James’ Park in Newcastle.
