Organisers of The Ocean Race Europe have confirmed that the inaugural edition of the sailing event will finish in Genoa in June this year.  The historic Italian maritime city (Genova in Italian) is already the home of The Grand Finale - the finish of the next edition of the round-the-world race in 2022-23. Seventeen events in 11 countries have been confirmed for sailing’s World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) 2021 world championship. The season will start in Szczecin, Poland, at the end of April and finish with the inaugural WMRT Final in Shenzhen, China, in December.  James Pleasance, WMRT executive director, said: “Last year was challenging for all international sports. SailGP will remain suspended for the rest of this year and its second season has now been rescheduled for 2021. In a news release sailing’s global racing championship announced that two of the four impacted events have been allocated new dates for 2021. The event in San Francisco will be held on 17-18 April and New York will be on 4-5 June.  Season two will be expanded from five events to a minimum of seven during the year-long period beginning in April 2021. Event focus: Charlestown Harbour Classic Sail Festival

Charlestown Harbour in Cornwall will host its first ever Classic Sail Festival in 2019.  The festival, from 30 August to 1 September, will see a fleet of classic ships sail into the harbour and also feature food and drink stalls and live music with Mad Dog Mcrea the headline act.  Visitors to the Sail Festival at the UNESCO World Heritage Site will be able to purchase a gangway pass that allows them access to the inner harbour and a tour of the ships in the grade II listed port.  Rolf Munding, owner of Charlestown Harbour, said: “The Classic Sail Festival is gearing up to be a spectacular event.
