Football fans have plenty to look forward to in 2027, with major international tournaments, European club finals and domestic showpieces taking place around the world.
International football will take centre stage throughout the year. Saudi Arabia will host the AFC Asian Cup in January and February, while the summer will see the Africa Cup of Nations staged across Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
One of the biggest sporting events of 2027 will be the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil. The tournament will run from 24 June to 25 July, with 32 nations competing across eight host cities. Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Maracanã will stage both the opening match and the final.
In European club football, Madrid will host the UEFA Champions League final, Frankfurt welcomes the Europa League final and Istanbul stages the Conference League final. Warsaw will also be in the spotlight as host city for the UEFA Women’s Champions League final.

AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027
When: 7 January-5 February 2027
Where: Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia
About: Asia’s biggest men’s international football tournament will be hosted by Saudi Arabia for the first time. The competition will feature 24 national teams, with matches taking place across eight stadiums in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar. The final will be held at King Fahd Sports City Stadium in Riyadh.
Concacaf Nations League Finals
When: 25-28 March 2027
Where: Los Angeles, United States
About: The 2026-27 Concacaf Nations League reaches its conclusion in March, with the League A Finals taking place in Los Angeles.
Concacaf Gold Cup
When: June-July 2027
Where: TBC
About: The 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup will feature 16 national teams and will be the 19th edition of the region’s flagship men’s international tournament. Saudi Arabia will again participate as a guest nation. Full dates, venues and the match schedule are still to be confirmed.
Africa Cup of Nations 2027
When: 19 June-17 July 2027
Where: Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda
About: The 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will make history as the first edition of the tournament to be hosted by three countries. Twenty-four teams will compete across East Africa, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda qualifying automatically as hosts.
FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027
When: 24 June-25 July 2027
Where: Brazil
About: Brazil will become the first South American country to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The 32-team tournament will feature 64 matches across eight host cities: Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Fortaleza, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and São Paulo. The Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro will stage the opening match on 24 June and the final on 25 July.
