Cycling in Lisbon: five scenic routes in Portugal’s capital

This August, La Vuelta a España, one of cycling's big three Grand Tours, sets off in Portugal’s capital city Lisbon for the first time since 1997, with stages one and two starting in the region. To celebrate, the Visit Lisbon tourism board has recommended five slow and scenic short rides for holidaymakers to explore the region on two wheels. Cais do Sodré to Belém This is one of the most popular routes in Lisbon and stretches for five miles along the Tagus River. Salt Lake City-Utah to host 2034 Winter Olympics and Paralympics

Salt Lake City-Utah has been confirmed as the host of the XXVII Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2034. The decision was made by International Olympic Committee (IOC) members during the 142nd IOC Session in Paris. Modelling by Barclays and the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) has revealed that the UK’s ‘Experience Economy’ – encompassing all businesses that provide consumers with unique and memorable experiences, such as sporting events, holidays and live entertainment – contributes an estimated £134bn to the broader UK economy, a figure greater than the GDP of Morocco. Between now and 2027, CEBR projects that the UK’s experience economy, which employs an estimated three million people, will grow by an average of 2.6%, surpassing the equivalent figure for the UK economy as a whole (1.6%), to reach an estimated contribution of £146bn. The 152nd Open Championship will be held at Royal Troon Golf Club in South Ayrshire, Scotland, from 18-21 July 2024. The fourth and final men’s golf major championship of the 2024 season will see the winner crowned as the Champion Golfer of the Year and lift the famous Claret Jug. Founded in 1878, Royal Troon first hosted The Open Championship in 1923 – and 2024 will be the 10th time it’s held the event. The 153rd Open Championship 2025 – men’s golf major

After its hugely successful staging of the 148th Open Championship in 2019, Royal Portrush Golf Club in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, will host the 153rd Open in 2025. The fourth and final men’s golf major championship of the 2025 season is set to take place from 17-20 July.  The Open generated more than £100 million for the economy of Northern Ireland in 2019 and the event also saw Irishman Shane Lowry become the Champion Golfer of the Year and lift the famous Claret Jug.
