The Big Retreat: festivals combining live music, wellness, fitness and outdoor adventure

Combining outdoor adventure, fitness, wellness and live music, The Big Retreat will return to two UK destinations in 2027, offering festivalgoers the chance to get active, reconnect with nature and enjoy a packed programme of experiences.

The “feel-good festival” will return to its original home in Pembrokeshire, Wales, in May, followed by a second event in Cambridgeshire, England, in August.

Part wellness retreat and part music festival, The Big Retreat offers everything from yoga, Pilates and wild swimming to paddleboarding, fitness classes, creative workshops and live entertainment.

Founded in Pembrokeshire in 2018, the festival has grown into a celebration of wellbeing, outdoor activities and adventure, encouraging visitors to try new experiences while enjoying beautiful natural surroundings.

The Big Retreat has also been shortlisted for Independent Festival of the Year at the UK Festival Awards 2026 and is a finalist for Most Transformational Retreat at the Retreat Standards Organisation awards.

The Big Retreat 2027 dates: Pembrokeshire and Cambridgeshire

The Big Retreat will return to Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire, from 28-31 May 2027, following a sell-out edition in 2026. Set overlooking the Cleddau Estuary in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the four-day event will feature more than 500 experiences spanning fitness, wellness, adventure, food, music and creativity.

Early bird tickets have already sold out, with more than two-thirds of all tickets for 2027 sold. Adult tickets start from £269, with junior tickets priced at £80 and free entry for children under five.

Following its debut in September 2026, The Big Retreat Cambridgeshire will return to Abbots Ripton Estate, near Huntingdon, from 20-22 August 2027.

The adults-only event offers a similar combination of fitness activities, wellness experiences, workshops and live music. Weekend tickets are priced from £249, with day tickets available for £99.

What’s on at The Big Retreat festivals in 2027?

For active travellers and wellness enthusiasts, The Big Retreat offers opportunities to combine a festival weekend with outdoor activities, exercise and relaxation.

Visitors to Pembrokeshire can take part in yoga sessions overlooking the estuary, try wild swimming or paddleboarding, join fitness classes or explore activities such as foraging and bushcraft.

New for 2027 is The Playing Ground, featuring pickleball, table tennis and giant games, while The Siesta will introduce a daily slower-paced programme from 1pm-3pm, including gong baths, Pilates, sleep workshops and relaxation sessions.

Other experiences include cookery demonstrations, creative workshops and inspiring talks, while the evenings feature live bands, DJs, silent discos and entertainment.

The first music acts confirmed for Pembrokeshire include Rick Parfitt Jnr’s Big Rock Show, Ibiza in Symphony, Abba Revival, Skinny Living, Very Santana and Deptford Northern Soul Club. Further announcements are expected, alongside the first line-up details for Cambridgeshire.

Both festivals welcome solo visitors, with Pembrokeshire introducing a dedicated Solo Lounge, meet-ups and camping options for those attending independently.

Research conducted at the 2025 Pembrokeshire festival, led by Professor Joyce Harper of University College London, found that nearly 80% of surveyed guests reported improved happiness.

Amber Lort-Phillips, co-founder and director of The Big Retreat, said: “We’re already working on an incredible programme for 2027 and can’t wait to welcome everyone back for another four days of doing more of what makes us feel good.”
