This may well be one of the coolest trips a motorsport enthusiast can experience. For those looking for something a little different from a traditional race weekend, how about swapping the grandstand for a frozen lake and getting behind the wheel yourself?
Ice driving in Sweden offers the chance to experience performance cars in one of Europe’s most spectacular winter settings, combining high-speed driving, professional tuition and a Scandinavian adventure.
UK-based motorsport travel specialist Grandstand Motor Sports has launched its 2027 Sweden ice driving packages, with two group departures scheduled for January and February.
The experience features two full days of driving on specially prepared circuits across frozen lakes, with professional instructors helping participants develop their car control skills in a safe and controlled environment.
Depending on the package selected, drivers can get behind the wheel of cars including a Porsche Cayman, Jaguar F-Type V8, Toyota GR Yaris and rally car.
Ice driving in Sweden: the experience
The trip begins with flights to Oslo, where guests are met by Grandstand Motor Sports representatives before transferring to their hotel.
The main attraction is two full days on the ice, with drivers taking on specially prepared courses and learning techniques for handling cars in low-grip conditions. Professional instruction is provided throughout, while there is also the opportunity to take part in the optional King of the Ice Challenge.
For travellers wanting to turn the driving experience into a longer winter holiday, the four-night itinerary also includes a Winter Adventure Day featuring dog sledding and a snowmobile safari. Alternatively, guests can opt for a spa or ski day.
Grandstand Motor Sports can also arrange an extension in Oslo for travellers looking to add a city break to the experience.
