After years of speculation, negotiations and calls from boxing fans to make it happen, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are finally set to meet in the ring.
The two British heavyweight stars will go head-to-head on Friday 11 December 2026 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in what is expected to be one of the biggest boxing events staged in the UK in recent years.
Fury and Joshua have dominated the British heavyweight scene for more than a decade, winning multiple world titles and headlining major stadium fights around the world. However, despite numerous attempts to arrange a bout, the pair have never previously fought professionally.
That will finally change in Cardiff, with the former world champions meeting in front of a potentially huge crowd at Principality Stadium.
Fury said at the official press conference that the contest had been “10 years in the making”, adding: “The rise has been phenomenal from both fighters. We’ve both had our ups and downs. Finally, we arrive at this moment.”
He added: “It’s the icing on the cake of two great careers, to throw down in front of 80,000 people – and may the best man win.”
Fury heads into the contest with a professional record of 36 wins, two defeats and one draw, including 25 knockouts, while Joshua has 30 victories and four defeats, with 27 of his wins coming by knockout.
Both have also previously featured in boxing events streamed by Netflix. Joshua knocked out Jake Paul in December 2025, while Fury defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision in April 2026.
“Fury vs. Joshua is a fight years in the making between two of boxing’s biggest stars,” said Gabe Spitzer, vice president of sports at Netflix. “It has the rivalry, the stakes and the scale to capture the attention of sports fans around the world.”
The bout was officially confirmed by Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and president of the Saudi Boxing Federation.
“Two of the best heavyweights of this generation, finally in the ring together,” Alalshikh said. “This will be one of the biggest fights in boxing history.”
Alalshikh’s The Ring and Dana White will collaborate to promote the event, while a star-studded undercard featuring fighters from around the world is also promised, with further details to be announced.
The event will stream live globally on Netflix and will be available to all members at no additional cost.
Principality Stadium has confirmed that the main Fury-Joshua contest is expected to take place in the early hours of Saturday morning following a full night of boxing in Cardiff, reflecting the enormous international audience expected for the event.
For Cardiff and Wales, the long-awaited showdown also represents a major sports tourism opportunity, with tens of thousands of boxing fans expected to travel to the Welsh capital for one of the most anticipated all-British heavyweight fights of a generation.
