The Ski Lodge: New boutique hotel opening in Verbier for 2026-2027 ski season

The Swiss Alps will welcome a new hotel for the 2026-2027 winter sports season, with The Ski Lodge set to open its doors in Verbier this December.

Located in the centre of the popular mountain resort, the privately owned boutique hotel will feature 36 rooms and suites, a spa with an indoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar.

As well as providing accommodation for skiing and snowboarding holidays, The Ski Lodge is designed around relaxation and recovery after a day on the slopes.

The hotel is the creation of Frédéric Mydske, a property developer who grew up skiing in Verbier and previously founded Swiss aparthotel brand BASE.

“I grew up skiing these mountains, and every good day in Verbier ends the same way – tired, but happy, and looking for somewhere good to land,” said Mydske. “The Ski Lodge is the kind of hotel guests come back to, for the evening as much as the morning.”

Skiing and snowboarding in Verbier

Located in Switzerland’s Valais region, Verbier is one of Europe’s best-known winter sports destinations and forms part of the 4 Vallées, one of Switzerland’s largest interconnected ski areas.

The ski domain offers around 410km of pistes, with terrain stretching from approximately 1,500 metres above sea level to the summit of Mont Fort at 3,330 metres.

Verbier is particularly renowned for its challenging slopes, off-piste skiing and freeride terrain, with routes around Mont Fort among the most celebrated in the Alps. The resort’s Bec des Rosses mountain also hosts the Xtreme Verbier, the prestigious final of the Freeride World Tour.

While it attracts experienced skiers and snowboarders, the 4 Vallées also offers plenty of pistes for intermediate-level visitors.

Unlike many purpose-built Alpine resorts, Verbier developed from a traditional farming village and has retained much of its mountain-town character.

The resort has a long history of welcoming international winter sports visitors and was named Switzerland’s Best Ski Resort at the 2025 World Ski Awards.

Ski lifts typically operate from late November until the end of April, depending on snow conditions.

The Ski Lodge will offer a dedicated winter concierge service, helping guests arrange ski lessons, mountain activities, transfers and heli-skiing experiences.

Spa, wellness and dining facilities

Recovery and relaxation are central to the hotel’s offering, with all overnight guests receiving access to its spa.

Facilities include an indoor swimming pool, cold plunge pool, Japanese onsen-style jacuzzi, sauna, hammam and three treatment rooms offering massages and body therapies.

A fully equipped fitness room will also be available for strength and conditioning sessions, while external visitors will be able to purchase spa day passes.

Accommodation comprises 18 Cosy rooms, 12 Deluxe rooms, four Mountain Suites and two Mountain Suite Terraces. Some rooms can accommodate additional guests, while the south-facing suites offer views towards Grand Combin and Mont Rogneux.

Dining facilities include The Peak restaurant, led by Peruvian-born chef Mario Paiva, and The Listening Room, a late-night bar serving cocktails and aperitivo bites, with weekend DJs.

Opening dates and getting there

Located at Rue de la Poste 12, approximately 100 metres from Verbier’s Place Centrale, The Ski Lodge will operate across two main seasons.

It will open from December until the end of April for winter sports holidays, before reopening from early June until the end of September.

During summer, Verbier offers more than 500km of hiking trails, mountain biking routes, golf and paragliding.

For international visitors, Geneva Airport is approximately two hours away by road. Alternatively, travellers can take the train via Martigny to Le Châble, before continuing to Verbier by gondola, bus or taxi.
