The Ski Lodge: new boutique hotel opening in Verbier for 2026-2027 ski season

The Swiss Alps will welcome a new hotel for the 2026-2027 winter sports season, with The Ski Lodge set to open its doors in Verbier this December. Located in the centre of the popular mountain resort, the privately owned boutique hotel will feature 36 rooms and suites, a spa with an indoor swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar. As well as providing accommodation for skiing and snowboarding holidays, The Ski Lodge is designed around relaxation and recovery after a day on the slopes. Andermatt unveils new sports centre facilities as part of long-term masterplan

Swiss mountain destination Andermatt has unveiled plans for a major new sports centre that will significantly expand its year-round sport and leisure offering for residents, second-home owners and visitors. Developed by Andermatt Swiss Alps AG, the project forms part of the destination's long-term masterplan and represents a major enhancement of the sports facilities originally proposed in 2008. The new complex will feature a wide range of indoor and outdoor sports and recreation facilities, including climbing walls, a fitness centre, yoga studios, padel courts, a 25-metre swimming pool, a family leisure pool with outdoor pool, spa and wellness facilities, an outdoor ice rink, bowling, a kids' club and an events space. Verbier, an Alpine village in Switzerland’s Valais Canton, is set to deliver one of its most ambitious ski seasons yet. From November 2025 right through to the end of April 2026 – a total of 151 skiable days – winter sports lovers will have half a year to carve up Switzerland’s most iconic terrain. Weekend-only access starts the season in November before the full lift system opens daily from early December. High-altitude pistes up to 2,700m and extensive snowmaking (63% coverage) make for reliable conditions from the first snowfall to spring’s final après-ski. On Tuesday 1 October ticket sales for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 international women's football tournament were launched at a special event held at the iconic Jungfraujoch in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. Located 3,454m above sea level, the magnificent Aletsch glacier set the stage for a match between two teams of football legends and future stars. The UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 will be held from 2-27 July 2025 in eight host cities across Switzerland, including Basel (opening game and final), Bern, Geneva, Zurich, St. Gallen, Lucerne, Thun and Sion.
