Turkish Airlines to become Liverpool FC’s main shirt sponsor from 2027-28 season

Turkish Airlines will become Liverpool FC’s main partner from June 2027, with the carrier’s branding set to appear on the front of the club’s match shirts from the start of the 2027-28 season.

The agreement will see Turkish Airlines replace Standard Chartered as Liverpool’s front-of-shirt sponsor, marking the first change to the Premier League club’s main partnership in 17 years.

The Turkish flag carrier’s branding will feature on the men’s, women’s and academy match shirts. Standard Chartered, which has been Liverpool’s main club partner since 2010, will remain in place throughout the 2026-27 season before becoming a global partner from June 2027.

Ahmet Olmuştur, Turkish Airlines CEO, said: “Liverpool Football Club is one of the world’s most recognised and respected football clubs, with an exceptional heritage and a truly global community of supporters.

“We are very pleased that Turkish Airlines will become the club’s main club partner and that our name will take its place on one of the most iconic shirts in world sport.

“As the airline that flies to more countries than any other, connecting people, cultures and continents is at the heart of who we are. This partnership brings together two global brands united by their international reach, commitment to excellence and ability to inspire millions of people around the world.”

The deal is the latest example of the close relationship between the aviation and football industries, with airlines using club sponsorships to build their brands internationally and connect with travelling supporters.

Emirates has established one of the most prominent portfolios in the sport, including its long-running relationship with Arsenal and naming rights for the Emirates Stadium, as well as partnerships with clubs including Real Madrid and AC Milan.

Etihad Airways is the main sponsor of Manchester City, including naming rights to the Etihad Stadium, while Qatar Airways has built a major football sponsorship portfolio that has included clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona.

Turkish Airlines itself has a long history of sports sponsorship and was previously the official airline partner of the UEFA Champions League.

Liverpool chief commercial officer Ben Latty described the new agreement as a landmark moment for the club.

“This is a milestone announcement for us and we are delighted to welcome Turkish Airlines as our main club partner from June 2027,” he said.

“The front of the Liverpool shirt holds a special place in the history of our club. Turkish Airlines is a globally recognised organisation with an extensive international network, and we look forward to beginning our partnership and building a strong relationship together, with already strong foundations built from those special memories back in 2005.”
